What is a Network?A network is basically 2 or more computers or devices which are linked/connected to share information via cables, satellites, radio signals etc. What is the Purpose of a Network?The purpose of a network is to send information, Resources, Data, Pictures, Photos, Sound, Word Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations from 1 computer to another even if it is just across a room or around the world it is still a network if you share information with another device.

How are devices connected on a networkWires/Cables, Satellite communications, Micro waves How are connected networks together ? All the equipment used is usually owned by the organisation such as routers, switches , cables e.t.c this is the kind you would find in your home the company's would be alot bigger Advantages of networkingNetworks are great because if loads of people wanted to print and there was no network you would need alot of printers 1 for each person and that would be expensive. Networks though allow all the computers to be connected together to 1 printer Devices such as these can be networked together
Network Hardware
Network Card: These are normally found in computers/laptops which have no network card installed on the motherboard. There is a Green LED on it which confirms it is running smoothly and is simple to find if there is a problem. Advantages; Simple to understand and configure. Disadvantage: Is not compatible with tablets. (software) Server;Servers are 1 of the main things in networks that connect things together. You usually find them at the center of a network and they generally focus on 1 task. Advantages: Does things in high detail and well. Disadvantages;Cost alot to run and maintain Proxy server; They form part of your firewall (generally) and this decides what goes into your PC and what doesn't such as a virus package or inappropriate material and is basically a good way to filter out stuff you want and the junk that is fake. Advantages: Very effective and works very well. |
